We manage and run our business through a number of centrally co-ordinated functions and regional businesses in Asia Pacific, Africa, and Central and South America. In most markets we operate through local subsidiaries or in joint ventures, often with state-owned businesses.

Operating in fast-growing markets presents opportunities, challenges and additional responsibilities. To operate successfully in these markets we need to empower local employees - the people who really understand issues on the ground. At the same time, we need to manage local risks effectively.
Our Risk Management Framework sets out procedures that all our local businesses and joint ventures must follow. It ensures that risks are managed effectively and consistently across our business. Our central Internal Audit team works with other external auditors and other specialists to ensure that the policies and procedures we’ve put in place to manage risk, and to improve transparency and reporting are being followed.
